I discovered a really cool way of using Flickr the other day. If you look in the sidebar of this post you will see a flickr box, clicking on any of the pictures displayed in the box will take you to the picture on the flickr website. Under the picture you will see the picture title, the URL. I want to direct you to and a brief description explaining what the Url leads to.

Effectively what this box is, is a random banner rotator.

The flickr box is animated so it draws your visitors eye to it to encourage them to click.

This is a great way for you to advertise your other websites or affiliate programs in a very small space. You simply create a photo set in your flickr account, it’s probably best to use small images of about 125×125 as these seem to display best in your flickr box. Title your images and then in the description box be sure to enter the url you want to direct people to first followed by a short description. The flickr box shows 12 places for images but you can put as many as you want in your set because flickr randomly rotates them.

So now you have a random banner rotator advertising a dozen or more of your url’s all in a very small space that you can install on your blog, website or anywhere that you can paste code to.

If you want you can even create a video set which will enable you to display a dozen or more videos in a very small box.

Well the short answer is the same one that applies to every site on the Internet. Traffic!

Yes, facebook visitors are what generates the income for what has now become the biggest web site on the internet. The facebook market place is enormous, with over 500 million members and growing every day. This equates to over 250 million facebook visitors every day making the facebook market place the biggest market in the world. Accurate and uptodate information for facebook is impossible to gather due to the speed of it’s growth.

Advertising. It seems that in 2010 facebook generated about $1.86 Billion USD. Purely through advertising to the immense facebook market place. The income generated could actually be significantly more because it is not clear what is included in that figure and facebook has other ways to make money such as Facebook Gifts.

This feature is completely free and you don’t even have to register as a member to use it.

Peel Away Advertising

Moving you curser to the top right of the screen will reveal an eye catching fully customisable peel away ad. Curiously you must be a paid member to add this to your own URL but as a non paying member you can still add it to ANY webpage. As a paid member you can even use your own image on the peelaway. Again this links to any url you want.

Harvest followers from any website. Look to the right side of this page. By the end of the year social networking will almost certainly  have become the most powerful marketing tool in any internet marketing entrepreneurs toolbox, and gaining exposure to, and building your own social networking circle will become more important as time goes on. Often when designing images for your website it is desirable to remove background from images so you can paste them onto another background.

Removing a background image is quick and easy thanks to Earnalot Free Photo How To Remove BackgroundEditor. And because you don’t even have to download complicated image editing software onto your computer you can use it even if you’re working on a computer that is not yours.

There are two different ways that you can easily remove an image background. The way to remove an image background where the image you want is fairly well defined from the background is to use the ‘Smart Cutout’. This system allows you to simply put a few (green) marks in the area you want to keep, no need to mark every pixel, a few more (red) marks in the area of your image you want to remove, click the ‘Predict Unknown Areas’ button and your image will automatically be removed from the background.

Using the ‘Smart Cutout’ option you can even remove one part of a picture  and the image will automatically fill in the space with pixels that match the surrounding (saved) area.

Using smart scissors you can easily cut an image from a background. Simply click on a few points around the image, the smart scissors automatically ‘snap’ onto the ouline, click the create cutout and your image is instantly removed from the background. Save the image as a .png file to preserve the transparency.

I recently bought a new laptop (I now work on 3 different computers) and got fed up with working on one computer, then spending ages looking for something I had downloaded or produced, only to realise it was on one of the other computers I use.

When I used 2 computers I had already grown disatisfied with trying to carry files around on a flash drive. Sometimes I’d forget to put the info on the drive and often I’d forget to carry the drive with me. I needed a better solution – A magic pocket.

That’s one of the catchphrases that Dropbox makes use of but it is so much more than a ‘magic pocket’.

Dropbox allows you to create a folder on your computer that goes to their sever and automatically synchronises it to appear in exactly the same form on all your other computers you have dropbox installed. That means if you have saved a picture or a pdf file or anything else for that matter, when you use one of your other computers the file is there for you to use or modify just as if it was a local file.

It get’s even better than that. You can access all your files from any computer, anywhere in the world simply by logging into your account. Could this spell the end of USB flash drives that are such a nuisance to remember?

Another useful feature is that you can use a ‘public file’. Perhaps there is something you wish to share with others, simply put that data in your public file, a url is then created for it and you can then simply share the url. You could even use it as crude form of web hosting, or maybe you want to share a report or something but can’t be bothered to upload it to your own server.

I’m finding this free file storage and sharing a very valuable tool, it makes my life a lot easier and makes me more efficient by being better organised so give it a try it’s free and you will find ton’s of great uses for it.

A members forum where you can learn even more from both other students and additional experts would be a good idea as would a constantly updated members site because after all the internet business changes with alarming speed.

Some people claim to like researching which keywords to use and what niche to target next. Personally keyword research is the part of internet marketing that I really dislike, I find it very frustrating going through the process of finding the right words that get enough searches but that are still reasonably easy to target.

Thankfully now there is now a free cherry picker software that makes the whole process of website keyword analysis a lot easier and more efficient, this software is so good it even makes the process a lot more interesting.

I used to use a simple formula for choosing my keywords, I would first use the Google keyword tool to make a list of relevent long tale keywords that returned at least 1,000 searches per month, (the easy bit) I would then do a Google search on those words ( in quotation marks) and try to find ones that returned the lowest number of results, less than 20,000 is ideal, upto 50,000 is acceptable. Using this formula I will usually get on Google page 1 in less than a month and occasionally within hours, and once I did it in 3 minutes, and before you question that I know some incredible tricks. Just ask if you want to know how it’s done.

Here’s the problem. My website keyword analysis could take me hours and hours to find the right choice, worse still despite spending all those hours on research there were times when either I could not get ranked for my long tailed keywords or it took me months of consistent hard work. By the way when I say ranked I’m talking about page 1 and preferably the top 5, nothing else really counts. The othe rgreat flaw in my system is that it often misses easy targets or “Cherries” this is because a lot of niche keywords are targeted by people who don’t know anything about SEO so sometimes there are long tailed, or even short keywords that show hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of results but are still easy to get ranked for. Cherry picker sofware helps to identify these search terms and with a bit of practice your website keyword analysis can be achieved almost at a glance.

This post is a little different to those I usually write in that it is not a regular product review or even a “How To” guide, it is more of a concept review about something that I came across by chance a few day’s ago and I’m finding incredibly useful.

Too Many "Post It's"

Can you imagine an office without post it notes?

What a fantastic invention the post it note has proven to be. Since it ‘s launch in the U.S.A. in 1980 the use of the humble post it note has grown incredibly and they now feature in almost every office around the world as well as in many homes.

The problem with paper sticky post it notes, is of course is that they cost money, get lost and get disorganised.

The Answer is to use electronic post it notes. I’d never thought about this until I bought a new HP laptop computer the other day and found that it had a program ready loaded on it that I can leave in my taskbar like having a post it notepad there, whenever I need to make a quick note of something I can simply click on my Sticky Notes icon and up pops a sticky note, I can them simply cut and paste a snippet of information I know I will need a little later or I can type a little note to myself. This is so much easier than having yo open another program such as Notepad which is what I used to do. I can even colour code my desktop post it notes to make it easier to find at a glance the information I am looking for.

My Desktop post it notes are making me much more efficient too, during the day as I am working on my computer I often find one task leads to another and time wise it is very inefficient to jump around having several tasks on the go at once. Now I simply make a quick note of what I need to do next and then leave notes on my desktop to refer back to. I also colour code them into today’s tasks and the ones that will remain on my desktop to greet me in the morning.

Because I am so impressed at how much use having desktop post it notes are I wanted to share the concept with my friends, I also wanted to be able to use them on my other computer so I did a quick search for programs that can install them onto my other computer.

NoteZilla

The first one I had a look at was NoteZilla. At first glance this looks like a terrific program offering tons of features that I’m sure would come in very useful. The drawback is that it only comes with a 30 day free trial and then you must buy it for $29.95 Which I’m sure is great value for anyone who needs it but for my needs a free version is at the moment a better option but take a look for yourself, if the program interests you take the 30 day trial it might be worth it for you.

Desktop Post It Notes

This is the one I decided to install on my other computer and can be found at Earnalot Desktop Post It Notes. Although there are paid versions of this available the free version is a great option and just just a trial program but something you can keep. It has many functions that I do not have on the sticky notes program that came with my computer such as the ability to tag your saved notes for easy searching and the ability to pin the note to a particular window. I think for most people this will be the on to go for – And It’s Completely FREE
